"Breathless" by Jean-Luc Godard Blog Post

     


    "Breathless" was a pretty interesting film. It was one of the movies that was during the French New Wave. The jump cuts were one of the things that came in mind while watching. It definitely made it clear that jump cuts were occurring during the film. We see these kind of cuts a lot in films nowadays and I think it help inspire them too.

    The main character Michel was a very interesting character to say the least. I honestly wasn't sure if I wanted to root for him or not because of his actions. Doing things like stealing money and stealing a car, you can definitely tell this guy was up to no good. I think another thing is that he doesn't care if he admitted that he cheated on his girlfriend Patricia. His character also just had a really big ego and you can tell he didn't care one bit.

    At the end of the film, I can say that I didn't support Michel for most of the time. Usually during a film to me, the protagonist is someone that you always root for, no matter who it is. Michel wasn't one of those protagonists. I kept questioning myself of who to support, and I really didn't know. Patricia was the only character I felt like was the character to root for because I felt like she should've avoided Michel this whole time.

    Hey there,

    I was never really rooting for Michel at all throughout the film. While I appreciate his charm and uncaring personality, I do not think it is enough to win me over after all of his terrible actions and words throughout the film.

A Christmas Story Christmas

Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year, and a way I feel is necessary to start off the holiday spirit is by watching the newest movie A Christmas Story Christmas . This film is a sequel to the 1980 film A Christmas Story . I'd say for what the film was, it was pretty good. It's always nice seeing characters come back from a loved film years later in a new one. This was something that my whole family has been waiting for and it was worth the wait in my opinion. It focuses on Ralphie now as an adult with his wife and kids visiting his mother's place, where the first film was located. There are so many references from the first film, they even will point them out during the credits if you missed them. It had the same goofiness like the first film and I liked that it took it from the perspective of ageing characters we've known for so long. Shrek

I went back to one of my favorite childhood films, that one being the "memeified" Shrek.  This film became an instant classic for many people. The animation back in the day was a big deal and a big eye opener for audiences in terms of what animation was going towards. The story is even heartwarming and connecting for multiple age groups.  With the animation in today's standards, you can tell that it has aged. However, that doesn't mean that it's unwatchable. It's even watchable for little kids to this day. Even though there's been people saying that a remastered version of Shrek would be nice, I'd be fine if they didn't.
